Used Citroen C3 Cars and Second Hand C3's for sale

The Citroen C3 has been produced since 2002. It is a "city" car with inline four-cylinder engines available in either petrol or diesel versions. The first generation of Citroen C3 cars was available from 2002 to 2009 and came with a wide range of engines. The entry level Citroen C3L model sported a 1.1 litre petrol inline four-cylinder engine or a 1.4 litre HDi diesel engine. The top-of-line XTR housed a 1.4 litre HDi diesel or a 1.4 litre Sensodrive petrol engine.

Partly due to its size, new and secondhand Citroen C3s get excellent mileage. Some models can be had with "Stop and Start" technology that cuts the engine when stopped in traffic, and immediately starts it again when the driver removes his or her foot from the brake pedal. This feature increases fuel economy even more.

Although 2006 didn't see a new generation of C3, the car was given an update with a slightly sleeker design, new air intake, and a new light cluster at the rear of the car. The interior was updated, and a larger diesel engine (1.6 litre, 16-valve HDi) was added to the offerings.

In 2009 more changes were forthcoming with the second generation of Citroen C3 hitting the showroom floor. One development that grabbed everyone's interest was the Panoramic Windscreen that extended along the roof. Allowing for a 108-degree field of vision, the car came equipped with visors, graduated tint, and one-way glass. Longer and wider than previous C3 models, this car aligns stylistically with other Citroen models.

New engines became available as well, offering more power and better fuel efficiency. A four-, five- or six-speed transmission is available, depending on model selected and trim line. The largest, a 1,560 cc, 1.6 HDi diesel, produces 108 horsepower while keeping fuel consumption to a minimum. This is an all-around good performer in the areas that matter most, and as a result Citroen C3 sales have been consistently good.
