Originally launched in 1996 and very well quoted in the motor press review, the Ford Ka, with its stylish curvaceously cool look and smooth driving experience, has upped the ante for small cars everywhere. In 2003 the Ford Ka expanded to include the iconic SportKa and StreetKa, launched by Kylie Minogue and that same year Ford Ka cars unveiled a Special Edition pink Ford Ka StreetKa which was produced as a promotion for the Thunderbirds movie and the model was exhibited at the Birmingham Motor Show.
2005 saw all Ford Ka models receive a facelift in the form of an upgrade in interior. SportKa and StreetKa received increased boost in engine size to 1.6-litre with the other Ka models retaining their 1.3-litre engine. StreetKa was officially withdrawn from the market during the latter part of 2006. SportKa is still being manufactured in 2011.
In 1998 Ford Ka cars created the Ford Ka Rally Championship which still runs today retaining its popularity as the most popular junior rally race in the UK and Ireland.
The current generation of Ford Ka retains its iconic curvy body and made its debut in James Bond movie Quantum of Solace and was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October 2008.
Despite its popularity on the silver screen, the new Ford Ka is a car of the people offering a fantastically economical 67/mpg with a CO" emission of 112 g/km and has a low insurance rating.

ESP now standard across Ford Fiesta range
Ford Motors has made the Electronic Stability Programme or ESP standard throughout its Fiesta line as part of an upgrade for the highly successful supermini. Initially, it costs £300 to install ESP on Fiesta models, but new EuroNCAP safety tests have now added a safety assist section that measures the number of equipment able to prevent the vehicle from veering out of control. ESP is principal among this equipment.
