Used Jaguar S-Type Cars and Second Hand S-Type's for sale

The original Jaguar S-type was produced from 1963 to 1968. It was designed to replace the Jaguar Mark 2 and to succeed where the Mark X model had failed; however, all three models were eventually sold simultaneously.

The Jaguar S-Type was powered by the same 3.8-litre petrol engine as the XK, though a smaller 3.4-litre version was released a few months later. Jaguar S-Type sales were steady, with only 43 being produced in its launch year and a peak of 9,741 in 1965. It was withdrawn in 1968, as sales steadily declined.

Despite this, its popularity remained high among enthusiasts who continued to buy used Jaguar S-Type cars. The level of demand was such that in 1999 Jaguar launched a new S-Type. The new model was an executive car, which remained in production from 1999 to 2008. This car was designed by Geoff Lawson, who was credited with significantly restoring Jaguar's reputation during his time as Director of Styling. When the new Jaguar S-Type cars were launched onto the market the first model was designated the X200, a rear-wheel drive model available with a 4.0-litre V8 engine and a 5-speed gearbox.

2002 saw the launch of the X202 model, as well as the supercharged S-Type R. The R was powered by a new engine, which was capable of accelerating the car from 0 to 60 in only 5.3 seconds; the base model of this car went on sale for in excess of £50,000.

A new model, offering a revised engine, gearbox and handbrake, along with a number of other cosmetic improvements, was launched in 2003. Jaguar released the X204 in 2004, sporting a facelift, before the final model, the X206, went into production in 2006.

The S-type's legacy lives on despite production ceasing in 2008. Rapper, Kanye West, has immortalised this luxury vehicle in his song "Hey Mama," ensuring its reputation for comfort and performance will be passed on to a new generation of enthusiasts.
