The Jaguar XF: Then and now
Unveiled in 2007 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Jaguar XF was released to replace the Jaguar S-Type. Before that, the concept for the XF was revealed at the beginning of the year at the North American International Auto Show. It is classified as an executive car and comes in four-door saloon and five-door sportbrake variants utilizing the Ford DEW98 platform. The XF is still in production today.
Designed by Jaguar’s Ian Callum, the XF features significant changes in design compared to the Jaguar S-Type. And comparing the final XF with the C-XF, the concept it was built upon, notable are the nose and front lights that incorporated an oval mesh grille that is reminiscent of the original XJ series from 1968. As for the interiors, unique features include flush-fitted air conditioning vents that rotate when the engine is started and the JaguarDrive Selector, a rotating gearshift dial that rises out from the centre console. All XF models are also fully trimmed in leather and don’t come with interior cloth options.
In 2011, the Jaguar XF underwent a facelift, the details of which are revealed during the New York International Auto Show. This facelift, which included adaptive cruise control, internal trim enhancements, and styling changes on the front and rear, was implemented on vehicles produced starting July 2011.
