Used Land Rover Defender Cars and Second Hand Defender's for sale

Originally coined the Land Rover One Ten, the used Land Rover Defender was introduced in 1983. It was developed from the Land Rover model, a series of four wheel drive off-road vehicles made in Britain.

It was first called Land Rover One Ten because of its 110 inch wheelbase length. In terms of appearance, used Land Rover Defender cars look very similar to the Series 3 Land Rover. Differences included coil springs for comfort, a permanent four-wheel drive and a more powerful engine.

In 1984 the Ninety was introduced with a 93 inch wheelbase. This was then followed by the Land Rover 127 model which was able to accommodate heavier loads. The design made them very popular for use in specialist services including the ambulance service, fire service, and mobile services such as mobile workshops.

In late 1990 the renaming of the Land Rover Ninety came into effect. The reason behind this change was that the car manufacturer had unveiled a new model called Discovery which meant that the original series also needed to take on this name. The new Land Rover Defender incorporates an improved turbo-diesel engine along with better turbo-charging, an alloy cylinder head, direct injection and inter-cooling.

In 2007 changes were made to the secondhand Land Rover Defender. Many were brought in to keep in line with safety and emissions regulations. Ford's DuraTorq line of engines used in Puma, replaced the Td5, and there were also changes to the interior.

In 2010 the Defender series was awarded the What Car? Readers' Award for the best 4x4 vehicle and crossover. Its design keeps on excelling in off-road travel, but with more emphasis on reducing emissions. Land Rover Defender sales have continued to grow, with 2011 seeing the limited edition sold in Australia, featuring a range of outer coat colours and bespoke wheels.
