Used Lexus IS Cars and Second Hand IS's for sale

The used Lexus IS is known as a compact executive model. The model was introduced by Lexus in 1998 as an entry level sports car. Initially, Lexus IS sales were under the Toyota Altezza name until the Lexus brand was brought in and the Lexus IS design was introduced in 2006.

The first generation of Lexus IS was unveiled in 1998. Known as XE10 it was designed for the luxury sports car market. It was renowned for having a much better performance than other luxury cars from Japan. The 1998 to 2000 model design had a shorter front engine, rear wheel drive, mid-size platform and 2.0 litre engine. It was awarded 'Car of the Year' in Japan the same year it was released. In 2000 the hatchback model with a 3.0 litre engine was introduced.

The second generation of used models now available were a complete redesign of the first, though the nearly new Lexus IS range was still a popular choice. Introduced at the 2005 New York Auto Show it was available with five different engines, ranging from 2.2 litre to 5.0 litre. Compared to the first generation of cars, the interior was more typical of the brand. Additional features included Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and SmartAccess keyless entry.

The latest model of the car was introduced in 2009. A retuning of the steering and suspension made control of the car easier. Used Lexus IS sales in Europe began in 2009 and the car was available as a hardtop convertible.

The first and second generations of used Lexus IS cars have been used widely within motorsport. The model has won a number of awards including the 2007 IF product design award and the 2006 Best New Technology Award from the Canadian Car of the Year Awards. It is well-known for its ground-breaking use of technology in design and advanced interior features.
