Lotus Europa
Lotus Cars Limited is a company in the automotive industry who manufactures mainly sports and racing cars. In 1966, this automotive company produced a sports car called the Lotus Europa, which is assembled in Hethel, Norfolk in England. This car is a two door coupé with an MR layout, or the rear mid engine, rear wheel drive layout.
This car was designed based on the infamous Chapman philosophy of simply, then add lightness. Its creation was based on the 1963 designs of Ronald Price Hickman, a car designer and inventor who is the director of Lotus Engineering. The first Europa was the S1 Europa, also known as Series 1 or Lotus Type 46. This was released in December 20, 1966 in the European market, and the first model was sold in February 1967 in France. This version of the Europa is limited with only 296 units.
In April 1968, the Europa S2 or the Type 54 was released with a number of modifications from the first version. The following year, a version for the United States market called the S2 Federal or the Type 65 was released, while the Type 54 was introduced to other markets in the world. In 2006, the Lotus Europa S was displayed at the Geneva Motor Show. Other versions of the car include the Type 47 or the Snorkel Car, Type 74 Europa Twin Cam, and the Europa SE, which was displayed in March 2008 at the Geneva International Motor Show.
