The Peugeot 308 is a small family car or C-segment car first revealed at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. This car succeeded the Peugeot 307 in most markets. It comes in 5 body styles, PSA PF2 platform and designed by Stephan Peureux based on the 307 chassis. The 308 is the first ever model to come out of Peugeot’s X08 lineup.

In 2007, Peugeot showed 2 concept versions of the 308 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The first was 308 Hybrid, which carried a diesel-electric hybrid engine. At the 2008 Paris Motor Show, Peugeot unveiled the Prologue, a version with an HDi engine. The second concept, the RCZ Coupe, is a 2+2 coupe almost similar to the Audi TT. The final model was shown in 2009 at the Frankfurt Motor Show as Peugeot RCZ and marketed beginning 2010.

In its first year of production, the car has reached more than 200,000 units in sales worldwide. The 308HDi version has been awarded the most fuel efficient mainstream vehicle in production today by the Guinness World Record. In 2011, minor changes were introduced to the 308. At the same time, Peugeot announced the production of the full hybrid 3008 and introduced an e-HDi micro-hybrid with a start-stop system.

Peugeot is expected to release a second generation 308 in 2013. A major restyling is anticipated by enthusiasts.
