The SEAT Toledo is a 5-door liftback that is now on its fourth generation of production. The first three generations was produced from 1991-2009. The car was discontinued in 2010 due to low sales. During that period, SEAT focused production on the family car Exeo. The Toledo made a comeback in 2012 at the Geneva Motor Show, with worldwide sales expected to continue beginning 2013.

The first generation Toledo Typ 1L was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and was the first SEAT vehicle to be manufactured under Volkswagen Group. It used the VW Group A2 platform. It was rebadged and sold under various names in China and Russia.

Typ 1M second generation was unveiled at the 1998 Paris Motor Show. This model addressed a few design issues found in its predecessor. The 1M’s build was based on various vehicles under the VW Group’s banner, including Skoda Octavia and VW Bora. This generation competed with contemporaries Ford Mondeo and Opel Vectra.

The third generation Typ 5P made its debut at the 2004 Paris Motor Show with a radical new design created by Walter de’Silva. The sporty image of the 1M was replaced by a more affluent look. Compared to Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf, the Toledo was marked consistently reliable in its segment.
