The Jimny comes with the same 1.3 litre engine as its predecessor, the Sierra. The Suzuki Jimny model was available in two specifications; JX or JLX. The JLX model benefits from roof rails, power steering, and several interior improvements. Both models are available with a choice of manual or automatic gearboxes, although for the best off road experience the manual option is recommended.

The secondhand Suzuki Jimny holds a position as one of the cheapest 4x4s on sale and, for a mini SUV, performs off-road very well. While the ride on tarmac can be quite hard, the suspension is built to withstand harsh off road conditions and there is an option to switch from 2WD to 4WD on the dashboard. In terms of reliability the Suzuki Jimny scores highly and needs very little upkeep or attention. Unlike other vehicles in this category, the Suzuki Kimny also scores points for being reasonably economical. A nearly new Suzuki Jimny can be picked up at a very reasonable price, and with high seating and wide, unobstructed windows, this 4x4 is an excellent purchase.
