Used Suzuki Swift Cars and Second Hand Swift's for sale

Suzuki Swift cars have been available on the market since 1985, and with its compact design and modest, light engine, it has proved a popular car ever since due to its economy and reliability. Early versions can be picked up very cheaply and so a secondhand Suzuki Swift could be an excellent choice for a simple, reliable runabout. The original engine size was 1 litre producing 50 bhp, but the majority of cars on the second hand market are likely to have engine sizes of 1.1 or 1.2 litres.

The Swift has been available in a number of engine sizes and differing models. The Mark 1 series was the first to introduce the Swift GTi in 1988, with a turbo charged engine option also available. The Mark 2 series was a great improvement on the original design, with improved curvier body style and four wheel independent strut suspension. In 1992 the Swift saw another update with different styled bumpers and an updated interior. Finally, the Mark 4 which is still the most recent edition came onto the market in 2004, and performed very well in the EURO crash tests achieving a rating of four stars out of five.

In recent years, the Suzuki Swift has changed dramatically whilst still retaining the original design principles of the car, to create a design that is both economical and practical. At the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show, the Suzuki Swift hybrid plug-in concept car was unveiled, due to join the market in 2013, and a new range of Swifts are on sale with engine options of 1.2 litre petrol or 1.3 litre diesel, proving that Suzuki Swift sales are still going strong after the launch of the car back in the 1980s.
