The Vauxhall Astra, first released in 1980, is now reaching its sixth edition in three decades. As expected with such a long running series, there are many secondhand Vauxhall Astras on the market. Also voted 1985 European Car of the Year, the car has proved so reliable that the Metropolitan Police Service employ a fleet of the 2007 model as Incident Response Vehicles. In June 2010 Vauxhall achieved over 10,000 Vauxhall Astra sales, and the model remains the fourth best selling car of all time in Britain.
