Nissan Primera Review

The Nissan Primera was released as the brand’s revision to the medium-sector model. Although the concept was considered impractical years ago, Nissan managed to surprise with several aesthetically pleasing models that put them at the forefront of the sector’s  leaders; the Primera itself also satisfies drivers and passengers in its well-specified equipment and pleasant ride.

Pros

The best engine among the Primera’s options is the 2.2dCi engine. Apart from its powerful punch, the 2.2 model also runs on efficient fuel economy. It will be difficult for you to look for the older models as well in the used or second-hand market; and the older engines aren’t recommended either due to their unrefined and noisy qualities. It’s best to opt for the current engines’ sufficient power and smooth delivery. Some of the available engines are paired with six-speed gearboxes.

The Primera’s handling is quite excellent, assuring stable steering feel and ample body control all throughout. The smallest bumps are absorbed by the car’s low speed ride. Although the ride does tend to feel softer than its predecessors; but the vehicle’s overall handling is a major improvement from the older generation, giving passengers a sharper feel and a more comfortable ride.

Comfort is assured throughout most of the interior as space is adequate for most passengers. The car is roomy enough for a large group, and so is the boot space for a large volume of luggage. The dashboard seems unusual looking at first, but it’s a design common to other cars.

Equipment is complete in most models and the basic ones include climate control, a CD player, air conditioning, electric windows all throughout, and airbags/ABS.

Cons

Although the Primera is roomy enough, the seats don’t provide adequate support for long rides. The unusual dashboard look makes it stand out but the luxury aesthetic some customers require is still missing. The colour camera feature is found in the models released from 2004 onwards but the ones prior to mid-2004 still have the black and white reversing camera behind the wheel.

Some cars have been reported for loose rattles and trims, but save for aesthetic troubles most cars don’t face any real trouble in the long run. No issues have been reported either in the engine or the accompanying gearbox. Although there have been reports on the electrical functions of the window motors and remote locking. Be sure to double check your purchase prior to finalizing the contract for the Nissan Primera.

The Nissan Primera is certainly a smart purchase for anyone after an affordable rate and the best quality for basic car functions. Ride, handling, and engine performance is assured in most road conditions and fuel economy essential for anyone environmentally and financially conscious. The setbacks, however, should be reconsidered against Nissan’s other more improved models and its higher end competitors. It’s all a matter of considering how far you want the investment to go and how much you need from the vehicle in terms of ride, luggage, capacity, and other crucial factors to getting to and from your usual destinations.
