The Renault has come to the fore in providing consumers with electrically powered vehicles. The Fluence ZE is among its top of the line models and comes highly recommended for anyone after a battery-powered model.
Compared to its non-electric variation, the Fluence ZE sports a longer length by 130 mm. Lithium ion batteries that weigh 280 kg are found at the back of the Fluence and does not compromise the interior’s overall space. The back provides enough support for this hefty weight.
In terms of improvements from the non-electric Fluence, the ZE features the rear bumper’s diffuser, aero-efficient wheels, low-resistance Goodyear tyres, and an altered front grille design. Other nifty additions are the fog light surrounds, the lights’ blue tint, the boot lid’s chrome highlighting, and a brand new rear light cluster.
We’re thoroughly impressed by the dash display that sports all kinds of useful functions. You can easily read how fast and far you’re going through the speedometer. The econometer allows drivers to keep track of their charge or discharge level. At the same time, this meter makes sure you’re able to shift quickly into acceleration. There’s also a needle that moves towards the blue zone to indicate when the kinetic energy recovery system charges. There’s also a gauge to indicate how much battery power you have left.
Other colored indicators include the dashboard display’s green go button that lights up when the key is turned. From the green light, you can shift smoothly into any velocity via the single-speed box. Expect minimal noise as you shift into this gear.
Another added plus of this vehicle is its Eco Mode that controls heating functions and climate control for the pre-air and pre-heating conditioning systems. These can be set even while your car is charging. Plus, you’ll have more than enough time between daily trips as charging takes six to eight hours.
Even though the Fluence just runs on electricity, its 94bhp electric motor boasts of 167lb ft torque and keeps up quickly according to any kind of speed. The ride is also smooth, with the vehicle able to handle uneven road surfaces and sudden potholes. Body movements are balanced and well maintained as you swerve through tricky roads and turn into sudden corners. The light steering complements this experience for car owners who have to pass through major city roads. The experience is made even more luxurious with the fluence’s quiet performance even while going on faster velocities. Even wind and road noise is kept at a minimum, letting you find that zen as you drive home from work.
Car owners used to quick recovery will have to get used to the slow performance after using up some of the kinetic energy. If you’re after racecar driving speeds, stay away from the Fluence. This car encourages easy breezy driving thanks to the light feel of the electric power steering. Although the Renaul advertises 115 miles for its range, it can go up to 125 miles but ultimately depends on the overall road conditions.
If you want a car that runs on electricity and does little to harm the environment, then we recommend the Renault Fluence. It still offers a quiet journey given stable road conditions and guarantees a comfortable experience for both drivers and passengers.
