Autoweb Authors

Ray Castle

Ray Castle started writing for Autoweb in early 2012. He’s the brains behind our Car Clinic, drawing on almost two decades of motor journalism to share expert know-how on buying, selling and owning. He also picks the cars and writes the words for autoweb.co.uk’s Caught in the Classifieds feature.

Ray spent four years on the staff at What Car? magazine before going it alone as a freelance. He kept the link with Britain’s best car buying publication, editing the Helpdesk section and much more. During that time he also wrote for the Sunday Times, the Sunday Express, the Guardian, Top Gear online, Autocar and even Practical Caravan.

He has also spent a three-year stint as editor for motors.co.uk. Currently, apart from writing for Autoweb, he also edits Auto Retail Agenda, a weekly e-publication for car retail bosses.

Michael Rawnsley

Mike Rawnsley is a self confessed car nut who has been working in the Motor Industry for over 25 years.
He has worked for some of the biggest and most prestigious car manufacturers including BMW, Mercedes and Land Rover and has gathered lots of experience over the years working in the industry he loves.

Mike writes very informative content for Autoweb.co.uk in his spare time and is very valuable asset to us as his writing style is very direct and honest.

Mike has written all the information pros and cons articles on each of our car model pages and has contributed in many other areas of our website and will continue to do so in the foreseeable future.

Steph Hewson

Steph is a mum of two young children and a professional woman working in Manchester with a demanding career.

She loves her cars but her requirements over the years have changed somewhat. The two seater sports cars have made way for more family friendly models - but she still doesn't want to sacrifice performance and style!

She offers a woman's view on the models currently available on the market. She looks for family friendly cars that actually deliver on their promises. She hasn't got time for anything else!

Richard Peam

We were absolutely ecstatic when Richard agreed to write for Autoweb.co.uk . An old friend of one of the Directors, we knew too well of his extensive passion for Fast Cars and his lack of patience when something is just not up to scratch. We will one day list his impressive catalogue of cars since leaving school, which really is quite incredible.

Richard started with a Triumph TR7, has had no end of Porsche’s since, a couple of which he just can’t let go of and now drives a Ferrari 458 Italia, which he loves dearly. Add that to the fact that he runs his own successful business, it makes him the perfect choice to write about the cars with something special under their bonnet. Richard does not suffer fools gladly, so when asked for his point of view – expect to hear it exactly how it is!

Mike Whiteley

Mike Whiteley has an unparalleled knowledge of all things motor-sport, he has been watching and attending events for over 15 years. He has a memorabilia collection that would rival a museum, including the door from Alain Menu's Renault Laguna. Mike has also been a flag marshall at major motor-sport events since 2010. Aside from Motor-sport Mike is a keen cyclist who regularly puts in over 100 miles a week on the bike. He has done a number of charity events in his role with Leeds Rhinos. These include climbing Ben Nevis, The Leeds Jane Tomlinson 10k, Abseiling down the South Stand of Headingley stadium and Cycling over 100 miles in a day.

Richard McCombe

Richard Silva

A genuine car enthusiast who's taste in cars spans a wide range, from old Datsuns to modern day supercars, I love most.
I'm currently part of Autowebs social media team and write the occasional piece. It's a genuine pleasure being able to look at cars for the most part of the day!

I started working for Autoweb in early 2014 and really enjoy being here! What better than interacting with the lovely people of the world and being immersed in car goodness.

Jamie Ryan

Jamie is part of the Marketing team at Autoweb joining in January 2014. Jamie also contributes to Autoweb's own social media accounts.
