Five of the Best Moto GP Racers of All Time

John Surtees

John Surtees

You might know John Surtees best as a Formula 1 driver, who won the 1964 Drivers' Championship and dominated the 1963 German Grand Prix. But we know John Surtees best for his Moto GP races, which he dominated during his time. His motorbike racing career started in 1952, but his first win came in the 1955 250cc Ulster Grand Prix. Like many motorbike riders, Surtees had to wait a few years to find his perfect form, and he went on to win the 350cc Championship in 1958, 1959 and 1960, and the 500cc Championship in 1956, 1958, 1959 and 1960.

Surtees started in 49 races and won 38 of them, making the podium a staggering 45 times. Due to his driving and riding skills, Surtees is considered to be the best rounded racer of his era, although, he wasn't the most successful Formula 1 driver nor the most successful motorbike racer. Still, he loves anything with an engine, and he's British. That makes him a true legend in our eyes.
