Volkswagen Scirocco R
The VW Scirocco is a wonderful all rounder. It's fun to drive, it's comfortable, it looks fabulous, it's relatively cheap to run and it holds its value well. One of those things gets turned on its head though with the Scirocco R. Can you guess what it is? With the exact same 2.0-litre TSI engine that produces 267 bhp and 260 lb /ft of torque as the Golf R, the Scirocco R is an expensive car to buy and run. It is a direct alternative to the Golf R, holding a slightly higher premium, but it's rarer; we've seen 6 Golf R's on the street and only 2 Scirocco R's. Although there is no brand new Scirocco on the horizon, we expect VW will update the existing car with a new engine after the MK7 Golf R comes out, to keep it competitive. The Scirocco R is just as planted as the Golf R when driven hard due it sharing the same 4Motion all wheel drive system. Arguably, the Scirocco R is the more desirable ride, although it isn't that easily distinguishable over other Scirocco's; dual fat exhausts and an aggressive front bumper are the only tell tale signs that you are driving something special.
