Seat Altea

Named after the Spanish city of Altea, the SEAT Altea is a compact MPV and has only been in production since 2004. Since their inception, SEAT Altea cars have been manufactured with four different diesel engines and nine different petrol engines. They have also produced five different transmission versions, including a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed Tiptronic (combination automatic and manual), a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed Direct-Shift Gearbox, and a 7-speed Direct Shift Gearbox version. Additionally, there are six different trim levels (Essence, FR, Reference, Reference Sport, Sport, and Stylance) two of which are no longer available in the UK (Essence and Sport).

SEAT Altea sales exceeded all the expectations of the manufacturer when over 31,000 Alteas were sold within the first year (2004). With front-wheel drive and a transverse front engine, this economic 5-door MPV is an extremely popular choice, whether it is a nearly new SEAT Altea (previously owned) or a brand new one. Tested for safety under the guidelines of the Euro NCAP assessment scheme, it has achieved their overall 5-star rating. The SEAT Toledo is identical to the Altea except for the fact that the former has a larger boot.

For a vehicle that is only in its eighth year of production, it has won an amazing number of awards including the Best Concept Car Award (2003), World's Most Beautiful Automobile (Milan - 2004), Germany's Auto Trophy (Autozeitung Magazine - 2004-05), Coche de Flotas del Año (Spain - 2005), XII Edicion de los Premios del Motor (Telva Magazine - Spain 2005), and Towncar of the Year (Caravan Club/What Car? Magazine - UK). Additionally, SEAT now has a flexible-fuel' vehicle in the works which has an internal combustion engine and operates on more than a single fuel usually ethanol or methanol combined with gasoline.'
