
The American automobile manufacturer, Chrysler, created a minivan in the year 1988, which came to be called the Chrysler Grand Voyager. Chrysler is a division of the Chrysler Group LLC, and this minivan was created to replace the Plymouth Voyager or the Lancia Phedra as it is called in the European market.
This car was released inEuropein the 1988 as a badge engineered version of its predecessor. It is produced exclusively inOntario,Canada. The first generation Grand Voyager was also called the Generation I and is a three door minivan with a front engine, front wheel drive or four wheel drive layout. It is available in several transmissions including a five speed manual, three speed A413 automatic, three speed A670 automatic, and four speed A604 automatic. Generation I remained in the market in 1988 until 1990, and the second generation was produced in 1991 until 1995.
Generation II in the European market were badge engineered versions of the Dodge Caravans. This was assembled inGraz,Austriaand was still a three door minivan with the same layout and transmission. In 1996, the Generation III Grand Voyager was released, and it was assembled in theUnited Statesand inAustria. In the years 2001 until 2007, the Generation IV was available in the market, and this was assembled in the same places with the addition ofChina. This fourth generation Voyager was a four door minivan.
The latest version of Chrysler Grand Voyager is called the Generation V, which is produced since 2008 and is a four door minivan with an FF layout. This is designed by Ralph Gilles, an American-Canadian automobile designer.
