If you're in the market for a used car and want something that's reliable, affordable, and unique, then a SsangYong might be just what you're looking for. The South Korean automaker has been producing vehicles for over 60 years, and in recent years they've become increasingly popular in the UK thanks to their range of practical, spacious, and affordable cars. In this article, we'll take a closer look at why a used SsangYong is a great choice, and highlight eight reasons why you should consider one for your next car purchase.

1. Great Value for Money

One of the biggest advantages of buying a used SsangYong is that you'll get a lot of car for your money. The company's vehicles are known for being affordable, even when brand new, and this is especially true when you buy used. Because SsangYong is not as well-known in the UK as some other automakers, their cars tend to depreciate more quickly than their competitors, which means you can often find a great deal on a nearly new or low-mileage SsangYong.

2. Spacious and Practical

Another reason to consider a used SsangYong is that many of their models are incredibly spacious and practical. The Korando, for example, is a mid-size SUV that offers plenty of room for passengers and cargo, while the Tivoli is a compact crossover that's perfect for city driving. And if you need something even bigger, the Rexton is a full-size SUV that can comfortably seat up to seven passengers.

3. Reliability

SsangYong may not be as well-known as some other automakers in the UK, but their cars are known for being reliable and well-built. The company offers a five-year warranty on all of their new vehicles, which is a testament to their confidence in the quality of their products. And because SsangYong vehicles are built to last, you can feel confident that a used one will still be in great condition for years to come.

4. Off-Road Capabilities

If you're someone who enjoys off-road driving, then a used SsangYong might be just what you need. The company's vehicles are known for their ruggedness and durability, and many of them come with features like all-wheel drive and hill descent control that make off-road driving a breeze. The Rexton, in particular, is a great choice for anyone who wants to take their car off the beaten path.

5. Unique Design

SsangYong vehicles have a distinct design that sets them apart from other cars on the road. Some people might find this design a little unusual, but for others, it's a selling point. If you're someone who wants a car that stands out from the crowd, then a used SsangYong is definitely worth considering.

6. Diesel Options

If you're someone who prefers diesel engines over petrol, then a used SsangYong is a great choice. Many of the company's vehicles come with diesel engines that offer great fuel economy and plenty of torque. And because diesel engines are known for their durability, you can feel confident that a used SsangYong with a diesel engine will still be running smoothly for years to come.

7. Features

Despite their affordable price tag, SsangYong vehicles often come with a range of features that you might not expect. Many of their models come with things like heated seats, a touchscreen infotainment system, and a reversing camera as standard, which is great value for money. And if you're willing to pay a little extra, you can get even more features like leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, and advanced safety features like blind-spot monitoring and lane departure warning. So, even though SsangYong cars are affordable, you don't have to compromise on features and comfort.

8. Low Running Costs

Finally, a used SsangYong can be a great choice for anyone who wants to keep their running costs low. Many of the company's vehicles offer great fuel economy, especially if you opt for a diesel engine. And because SsangYong cars are generally reliable and well-built, you're less likely to encounter unexpected repair bills down the line.

Conclusion

Overall, there are many reasons why a used SsangYong is a great choice for anyone in the market for a new car. From their affordable price tag to their spacious interiors, rugged off-road capabilities, and unique design, there's a lot to love about these vehicles. And because SsangYong cars are known for their reliability and durability, you can feel confident that a used one will still be running smoothly for years to come. So if you're in the market for a new car, be sure to consider a used SsangYong as a great value option.

SsangYong History

SsangYong Motor Company has undergone an extensive amount of corporate development, production experience and influence on the Korean car industry. It began its engineering history as the Ha Dong-hwan Motor Company before changing its name and starting continuous manufacturing of four-wheel drive SsangYong cars after acquiring Geohwa Ltd.

As the fourth largest car production factory in South Korea, during the war years the manufacturer built Jeeps for the United States. Utilising their experience, in 1988 the SsangYong business team came together with Daimler-Benz. The acquisition of new engine technology and expert design knowledge kick-started SsangYong sales growth. The Company released the Musso in 1993, shortly followed by the Korando in 1996. This achievement opened up a brand new market and customer base to explore.

The affiliation continued to progress; the manufacturer took advantage of the innovative design and advanced technology successes of Mercedes-Benz and continued production of small commercial vehicles in 1991, deluxe passenger cars, as well as petrol and diesel engines in 1993. In 2010, SsangYong Motors was acquired by Mahindra & Mahindra Limited.

The manufacturer's expertise in a large and varied market could be the key to SsangYong's survival in the car manufacture industry. In 1966 SsangYong Motors established the production of buses in Korea and the export of SsangYong cars and other transport vehicles. The brand continues to open new areas of the car industry to this day, building SUV and RVs. Additionally, the Rexton has become a popular secondhand SsangYong choice as it offers the driver a smooth city car experience as well as off road capabilities, due to its design as a mid-size sport vehicle.
