2 words...Car Olympics! I know right?! Pretty amazing idea even if we do say so ourselves!
09 August 2012
Are we the only ones that think the Olympics could do with a bit of a spice up? Don't get me wrong, the opening ceremony was amazing and spectacular. But I can't help but think, why didn't musical mogul Danny Boyle just give us what we all actually wanted to see. Less people, more cars.
£30 million is, by any measure, a bucket load of money. Money which we can't help thinking, would of been much better spent on V10's and high end performance sports cars.
Think about it, what would you rather watch...15,000 actors and dancers prancing around a stage for 3 hours, or a squirrel crashing a Ferrari into the Olympic swimming pool? I know where my money would be going.
And this got us to thinking. Why stop there?!
There are currently no motor sports in the Olympics. And we think this is a travesty. So we've come up with a solution. Car Olympics! Genius wouldn't you say?
Now when I say car Olympics...I don't mean the cars will start doing the high jump or throwing shotputs about the place (although that would be amazing). But there are heaps of normal Olympic sports out there that could be improved so much with the inclusion of cars. Track racing for example...a crowd cheering you on is all well and good, but if you're being chased by a speeding lorry you're going to put your foot down that little bit more. Cars could be the performance enhancers that the anti-doping committee so brutally snatched away.
And there are bags of other sports that could be easily adapted and made better if we in the motoring world could get our filthy mitts on them. Take table tennis as another example. Not exactly the most popular or mainstream of sports. But played in the back of a moving transit van while the driver is also in a race around the Goodwood circuit, and we're onto a winner!
I know what you're thinking right now. You're thinking "This is genius! When can I see this?! How do I get involved?!" Well, don't panic. We're currently taking suggestions for what sports you guys think could be improved with the use of a decent engine!
