2012 Suzuki Alto: fuel-efficient and eco-friendly
18 April 2012
Suzuki Alto, one of the most eco-friendly cars today, is now exempt from the VED and London congestion charge. The 2012 model features new modifications that makes it fun to drive and depicts the Japanese carmaker’s “Way of Life!” philosophy.
With outstanding performance in terms of CO2 emissions and fuel efficiency, the Alto not only caters to the lifestyle needs of the modern motorists, but cares for the environmental as well.
The 2012 Alto, which is now on sale, gets modifications such as the Dual Variable Valve Timing (VVT), a feature that further reduces the car’s emissions and boosts fuel economy.
Additionally, the Alto fitted with manual gearbox has a 99g/km CO2 emission, resulting in no London Congestion Charge and £2,600 savings for motorists who drive to and from London five times a week.
Equipped with the optional automatic transmission, the SZ4 model has reduced its emissions from 122g/km to118g/km, resulting in a lower Vehicle Excise Duty, zero-charge for the first year and from £95 to £30 in the following years.
The Alto also comes with the highly-efficient 1.0-litre three-cylinder K10B petrol engine that delivers a gross power output of 50KW/68PS at 6,000rpm. The Euro 5 compliant 12-valve engine, which is compact and light, also features low friction characteristics. Moreover, the VVT for both the exhaust and inlet camshaft provides greater flexibility.
Along with an EC combined fuel consumption of 65.7mpg, the engine also achieves maximum torque of 90Nm at 3,400 rpm, which makes the 2012 Alto one of the cleanest petrol-powered City cars available in the UK market.
