Italian racing car manufacturer Abarth has launched two new models - the Abarth 500C and Abarth Punto Evo - to please motorists hoping to express themselves through the car of their choice. These two new models retain its predecessors' thrilling styling and good looks, while introducing power upgrades and a host of useful equipment.
The Abarth 500C is powered by a 1.4 16v Turbo T-Jet engine developing 140 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 8.1 seconds and offers a top speed of 127mph. The unit returns 43mpg in the combined fuel economy cycle.
Priced at £17,500 OTR, the 500C gets an Abarth Competizione MTA transmission with steering wheel paddle shift, third brake light incorporated into the spoiler and an electric hood with glass rear window, as standard. Other equipment included are xenon headlights, seven airbags, TTC, parking sensors, leather steering wheel, 16" alloy wheels and Blue&Me hands-free telecommunications system.
Meanwhile, at the heart of Abarth Punto Evo lies a new 1.4 16v MultiAir engine generating 165 horsepower. The unit can sprint the car from naught to 62mph in 7.9 seconds and to a maximum speed of 132mph, yet returns combined fuel economy of more than 47mpg.
Just like the 500C, the Punto Evo features an impressive list of standard equipment including 17" alloy wheels with five-claw spokes, Start&Stop, six airbags, performance sport switch, Blue&M, Eco Gear Shift Indicator (EGSI) and TTC. Among the extensive list of options are tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), rain sensor, automatic climate control and an 'Interscope' hi-fi system.
"Joining together two winning formulas - the convertible roof of the Fiat 500 and the style and performance of the Abarth 500 - will make the new Abarth 500C an irresistible proposition for many new customers", said Ivan Gibson, director of Abarth UK.
"And the new Abarth Punto Evo also takes forward a winning combination of its own - new technology and engineering coupled with great looks and versatility", added Gibson.
