As the legendary Italian marque turns 100 years old, Alfa Romeo Automobiles plans to throw a birthday blowout in style at the 2010 Goodwood Festival of Speed on 2-4 July.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed (FoS) will be the main focus of the international centenary celebrations of Alfa Romeo, with a dazzling automotive sculpture to be erected in front of Goodwood House, in West Sussex. With construction due to begin shortly, Alfa Romeos Central Feature art display is gearing up to be among the most memorable and stylish sculptures ever built for the Festival, showcasing the distinctive style of one of the most revered and admired automotive marques in the world.
The FoS will help in commemorating the official 100th birthday of Alfa Romeo in late June. Aside from the automotive sculpture outside Goodwood House, a spectacular exhibit of the Italian marques vehicles will be on display in the festival. Among these are never-before-seen models in the UK, fresh from the companys Museo Storico collection in Milan, Italy.
More than 50 notable Alfa Romeo models are expected to join the Festival, ranging from the pre-War P3, 2900 B Le Mans, 12C-37, and the Monza, through to the 164 Pro Car, 185T, Tipo 33, GTAm, 159 Alfetta, and the one-of-a-kind V10-powered SE 048SP Group C prototype. The Brabham BT46B is also expected to make a rare public appearance.
The all-new Alfa Romeo Giulietta, which will hit the UK market this summer, will also be making its public debut at the Festival along with a selection of its current product range. The Giulietta will also appear at the Goodwood Moving Motor Show on 1 July.
