British automaker Aston Martin has decided that it is time to award the definitive grand tourer DB9 an array of extensive equipment, styling and engineering enhancements.

"The DB9 is the quintessential sporting grand tourer and offers an unrivalled combination of driver involvement, character, luxury and refinement. This car combines our unique Aston Martin character with an uncompromised design philosophy, craftsmanship and trademark Aston Martin performance ability", said Dr Ulrich Bez, CEO of Aston Martin.

Styling changes include a bright finish radiator grille, a reshaped lower intake with bright hexagonal mesh and a new front bumper. Completing the external revisions are clear rear light lenses, 20-spoke diamond turned alloy wheels, silver brake calipers, re-styled sills and new headlight bezels.

Performance wise, the passive damping system of the DB9 has been supplanted by an innovative Adaptive Damping System (ADS), which provides better ride comfort plus sharper handling when switched to Sport mode. It has also been equipped with a revised Bluetooth microphone system, a new tyre pressure monitoring system, Bang & Olufsen hi-fi options and a new Double Apex alloy finish trim.

"The DB9 was the first car built at Gaydon adopting the VH architecture. It has evolved every year since, with significant changes including a power upgrade and successive reductions in CO2 emissions. The latest package of improvements goes further than ever, highlighting the DB9's qualities as a true sporting GT and underlining its role as the backbone car of our range", explained Ian Minards, product development director of Aston Martin.

The DB9 is available in both a convertible (Volante) and a coupé form, with rear mid-mounted six-speed manual transmission as standard or optional Touchtronic 2' six-speed automatic gearbox. Production of the revised DB9 is now underway, with deliveries due to commence in July. The car is priced from £122,445 for the coupé and £131,445 for the Volante.
