The Audi R8 has been recognised as this years World Performance Car during the World Car of the Year Awards ceremony at the New York Auto Show. The car has received the World Performance Car award for the second time, after the V8-powered Audi R8 grabbed the same award in 2008.
In the opinion of many on the World Car Awards jury, Audi has at long last satisfied our hunger for a street car that lives up to the excitement of the original Le Mans series-dominating R8 LMP1 race car, observed the jurors at the World Car Awards.
The Audi R8 V10 was developed through the joint effort of the company and quattro GmbH. The car features a 5.2 litre direct injection ten-cylinder engine that can generate 525PS, which allows it to go from zero to 62 miles per hour in only 3.9 seconds. It has a top speed of 196 miles per hour.
The Audi R8 V10 also comes with high-end Audi technologies, including the quattro permanent all-wheel drive, innovative all-LED lights, and a lightweight aluminium body.
A V8 engine powered the original version that won the award in 2008. Whether customers select an Audi R8 powered by a V10 or V8 engine, they can be assured that they will be getting a World Performance Car winner.
