Bad weather boosts sales of Land Rovers
5 February 2010The number of used Land Rovers being purchased could have risen in the past month, if they reflect sales figures for new vehicles released by the firm.
It has been reported that overall sales were up 58 per cent in January - nearly double the industry average - which the carmaker has put down to treacherous conditions on UK roads following the snowy weather.
The Land Rover Discovery saw sales grow by 92 per cent, purchases of the Range Rover Sport rose by 66 per cent and a 57 per cent increase was seen for the Freelander, the statistics showed.
John Edwards, managing director of Land Rover, said: "Heavy snow and icy conditions last month meant car buyers were looking for a vehicle that provides them with the all-terrain capability to keep them on the roads."
Confused.com recently warned that drivers of used cars who have had just two accidents because of icy roads could send their motor insurance premiums to twice their current cost.
