Top-notch technology and craftsmanship have been used by Bentley Motors body assembly unit to produce the all-new Bentley Mulsannes distinctive appearance. Yet this is just the first sign of the meticulous focus on detail that Bentley has given to the new 4-door flagship in its paint facility in Crewe, England.
The latest Mulsanne will be available in no less than 115 standard colours, with the customers imagination the only real limit to the cars colour.
Once the pre-production, bare metal Mulsanne bodyshell reaches the paint facility, it passes through a painstaking process. After priming, each bodyshell is carefully inspected, flatted or sanded using a combination of power and hand tools to ensure its quality.
From this point, the craftsmens skill and judgment stand out. Using state-of-the-art technology, lacquer coats are applied in every detail, removing even the most miniscule imperfection to achieve an elegant and perfectionist finish.
It takes many months of in-depth training for a quality control inspector to learn how to identify defects that an owner might never notice, yet each one will be rectified, even if this means sending it around the entire process again, said Dave Walton of Mulsannes bespoke paint facility. We always operate way above customer expectations of quality.
With the introduction of two-tone colour schemes and new satin paint finishes to Bentleys comprehensive portfolio, Walton said the skills of the group are always developing.
However, Bentleys craftsmen are keenly waiting for the time when the Mulsanne begins full production. According to Walton, even with over a hundred standard colours to choose from were still looking forward to that first commission to design a bespoke colour from scratch and deliver it perfectly.
