BMW is a green hero

BMW has been acknowledged for its green technology.

Fans of used BMWs may be pleased to hear that their favourite motors have been given a green award.

The Energy Saving Trust Fleet Hero Awards has given the manufacturer the title of Industry Supplier of the Year for the second consecutive year.

This acknowledges the carmaker's efforts in helping businesses reduce their carbon footprints by making their fleets more efficient and sustainable.

Backed by the Guardian, the Department for Transport's Act On CO2 campaign and the Confederation of British Industry, the accolades publicly recognise firms that have made a difference to the environment.

Commenting on the achievement, Stephen Chater, BMW corporate operations manager pointed out that this is the second eco award it has won recently, having been named on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index as the most sustainable car company in the world.

"We are absolutely delighted to have won this award and that the Energy Saving Trust has recognised our commitment to reducing emissions in business fleets," he remarked.

Mr Chater pointed to the EfficientDynamics and Minimalism emissions-reducing technology as the sources of success.

Meanwhile, used BMW drivers may be interested in the new 5 Series Saloon range, which was unveiled last week.
