Car trends for 2009
04 January 2010
A summary of the automobile trends for last year has been released.
The car buying fashions of the past decade have been revealed in a report.Car magazine cited data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders to analyse how trends changed from 1999 to 2009.
Ford remained a top choice in the beginning and end of the decade, with its models taking the top two spots in each year.
In 1999, the Focus and Fiesta were the biggest cars, while in 2009 they had swapped places.
Vauxhall also featured more than once in both lists, while Mini and BMW, though not among the top ten in 1999, had made the grade ten years later.
The Peugeot 206 was the tenth best seller in 1999, while the Peugeot 207 had sixth place last year.
Car posed this question, though: "Exactly when did minicab drivers and policemen lose first dibs on white cars?"
This year, Ford is releasing technology to allow drivers to store information about songs they hear while they play on the radio.
Motorists can download the information to their iPods and then sync them with iTunes in order to buy the tracks to which they were listening.
