Cheap green cars are available

A range of affordable environmentally-friendly cars have been suggested to motorists through a guide from a magazine.
Motorists looking to go green and cheap when trading in their used car for a newer model have been told of some of the options available to them.The Which? Complete Guide to Greener Driving, has suggested a range of environmentally-friendly vehicles that can be snapped up for under £10,000.
With many car dealers having to lower prices due to the lack of new vehicles being bought, some bargains are on offer, with the Fiat Panda 1.3 Multijet Dynamic offering the biggest saving of £2,519, with the car now available for £6,471.
Among the other vehicles offering significant savings include the Citroën C2 1.4 Hdi Vibe, Skoda Fabia 1.4 TDI 70, Toyota Aygo 1.0 VVT-I and the SmartForTwo 1.0 71 Pure.
Richard Headland, editor of the Which? Complete Guide to Greener Driving, says: "Many people are put off green cars as they usually think of the Toyota Prius, which costs around £17,000.
"However, there are some great eco cars which are much cheaper even more so at the moment. We've found some incredible deals for less than ten grand."
According to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, the new car market fell for the sixth successive month during October.
