In its annual auto issue, Consumer Reports named Subaru and Honda as the best all-around carmakers in the market.
Subaru, a car manufacturing division of Fuji Heavy Industries, and Honda Motor Company, Ltd. tied at the first place with an overall rating of 77 out of 100 based on Consumer Reports ranking.
It is already the fourth consecutive year for Honda in topping the list of the influential magazine. The ratings were based on the predicted reliability scores and average road test scores given by Consumer Reports.
The two top-rated Japanese car makers were followed by Toyota Motor Corporation and South Korea-based automaker Hyundai, landing the third and fourth spots, respectively.
The worst in the pack was US automobile manufacturer Chrysler, though the magazine recommended one of its cars, the Ram pickup.
Although Honda and its luxury vehicle division Acura continue to produce the finest vehicles in the market, the magazine claimed that some of its recent models have not shown the same dedication to interior quality and fuel economy.
Meanwhile, the magazine praised Subaru for its Outback wagon and 2010 Legacy sedan.
In addition, even though Consumer Reports continues to recognise Toyota vehicles with high regards, it only recommended fewer Toyota vehicles than last year. The magazine was said to have suspended its recommendation for Toyota when it recalled some of its vehicles in 2009.
