Convertible lovers advised to buy a car with good residual value

Those planning to buy a car and are thinking about getting a convertible have been urged to consider the residual value of the model they choose.
Convertible lovers who are planning to buy a car in the next few months have been advised to think about the residual value of whichever one they choose.Vehicle data organisation HPI Valuations said despite Britain's drivers owning more soft-tops than any others in Europe, demand has fallen and there is a surplus in the market that has led to a drop in value.
As such, there are some summer bargains to be snagged - but looking at a purchase such as this long-term is sensible, warned company expert Martin Keighley.
"Go for one that is most likely to hold its value to ensure you get the best bang for your buck," he added.
A top ten compiled by HPI placed the Audi TT Roadster at the top for residual value, followed by the Audi A3 Cabriolet and the Mini Convertible.
Those who do go for an open-top and want to save even more money may find competitive insurance and breakdown cover rates online.
