Dealers may encourage young used car drivers to be safe on the roads

Young adults should be encouraged to be safe behind the wheel, it has been noted.
Dealers of used cars may want to encourage young drivers to be safe on the roads, following the results of a new survey.Kwik-Fit found many students may be jeopardising their safety by failing to maintain their tyres, with 14 per cent having driven despite knowing the parts were worn down.
In addition, 32 per cent of those questioned admitted they would rather spend their last £50 on a big night out than replace an illegal tyre.
A further seven per cent were found without a valid MOT, while five and three per cent did not have road tax and insurance respectively.
David White, customer services director at the firm said mothers and fathers could contact outlets such as Kwik-Fit or dealerships in order to ensure their children are secure behind the wheel.
"Parents can always [purchase] vouchers, or book essentials such as services and MOTs - and order tyres online, to help keep their sons and daughters safe on the roads," he commented.
They may also consider purchasing a used Mazda3, which was recently awarded five stars in a European NCAP test.
