Drivers of new and used cars must check tyres

TyreSafe has urged holidaymakers to check their tyres before embarking on long journeys.
Owners of new and used cars have been urged to check their tyres before heading off on a driving holiday this summer.TyreSafe warned motorists who fail to do this risk breaking down or being involved in an accident.
It stated the tread depth and air pressure of this crucial auto part should be looked at before people embark on long journeys.
Chairman Stuart Jackson stated: "Motorway gridlock is a common sight in the summer months and one that could be avoided if more motorists made time for straightforward tyre safety checks."
If tread depth is insufficient, motorists may find they have less grip in wet conditions.
Meanwhile, under-inflated tyres can lead to less responsive handling.
When conducting checks, vehicle owners were also advised to keep an eye out for general wear and tear.
In other news, TyreSafe recently urged drivers of new and used cars to ensure they pick an appropriate product for their particular auto when buying tyres online.
