Driving through the downturn with Daihatsu
16 January 2009
Daihatsu offers ray of motoring hope during the economic downturn.
Fuel-efficient Daihatsu cars are the perfect vehicle to see motorists through the credit crunch, the company has claimed.According to the firm, a compact Daihatsu offers a number of advantages over larger competitors for the cash-conscious British driver.
Compared to other car manufacturers, Diahatsu has reported relatively minor losses during the economic downturn.
Paul Tunnicliffe, managing director of Daihatsu Vehicle distributors division, explained that "shifts in consumer values" are putting "compact cars in the spotlight".
He said: "This is an age with many issues. Big is not better anymore. Rather, small is smart. Our cars are friendly to the environment as well as being people friendly.
"As a company we are practical, innovative and imaginative and we aim to become the world's leading compact car maker."
Among the used cars in the Daihatsu range that may appeal during these frugal times is the Sirion - a 1.0-litre model that manages 56.5 mpg.
