Italian car maker Ferrari introduced its hybrid experimental car called the HY-KERS during the Geneva Motor Show. The vehicle, which is based from the 599 GTB Fiorano, has lightweight hybrid drive train in its system components placed beneath the midpoint of gravity in order to avoid impact between luggage space and interior.
The car remarkably keeps a high-quality performance of the standard Ferraris, while cutting the CO2 emission by approximately 35 percent.
The vehicle shows off F1 technology as well as the construction of a new electric motor, which optimises the cars lateral dynamics while boosting brake balance and traction. The weight of the motor is about 40 kg, accompanied by a rear of seven-speed F1 transmission. The motor uses one of the two clutches of the transmission and one of the gearbox primary shafts in order to let the power join with the V12 engine and the motor.
Depending on the speed, Ferrari HY-KERS has the ability to function as a completely electricity-run vehicle with its electric drive unit, which charges batteries using the kinetic energy produced by the car when braking.
The hybrid technology is certainly among the elements of Ferraris strategy to promote green environment. The carmaker has also set up a start and stop system for Ferrari California. This system cuts fuel consumption as well as emission by about 6%. It also plans to reduce friction in the cars engine to deal with fuel consumption. Ferrari California has changed the pressure beneath the piston in order to get rid of the pumping losses.
