Ford issues warning against counterfeit parts

Ford issues warning against counterfeit parts 29 January 2010
Getting counterfeit car parts instead of the real article can be very dangerous, Ford has warned.

The popular car maker cited a study from the Independent Motor Industry Research Association, which confirmed that copied parts rarely meet the same standards as genuine Ford ones.

As well as not having the same environmental credentials, they can be unfit for purpose and dangerous to use.

Ford spokesperson Paul Muers stressed the need for a franchised dealer when looking for new parts to ensure only genuine pieces are used.

"It is very scary to think what could happen if, for example, your car's braking system was fitted with counterfeit parts," he commented.

Recently, the car maker announced that a new, revised range of Ford Kas is being released to mark the model's birthday.

The new cars are called Zetec, Edge, Studio and Titanium, the latter of which is an all-new design.

Updates include rear head restraints, which appear in the Ka Studio.
