The five-seat Ford C-MAX has seen a surge in sales after being conferred with its first BusinessCar award. Along with its sibling, the seven-seat Grand C-MAX, both cars were recognised by BusinessCar readers for their efficiency, practicality and style.
In the UK, about 19,000 Ford C-Max models were sold during its first full year on sale, as opposed to the 8,357 units witnessed in the prior year. This meant that the Ford C-MAX now accounts for one in every five registered compact MPVs in the UK last year, climbing from 2010's 7.6%.
Meanwhile, the Ford S-MAX MPV received the Best MPV honour, its sixth time since its launch in 2006.
"Ford has deservedly taken both MPV awards thanks to a pair of products that successfully combine practicality and efficiency with a sense of style not previously available in a sector aimed squarely at family transport" said Paul Barker, Editor at BusinessCar.
About 40% of total C-Max volumes in the UK go to the seven-seat Ford Grand C-MAX, which features twin rear sliding doors that offer an innovative walk-through seating concept.
The Ford C-MAX is available from £17,445 and will be available this year with the efficient 1.0-litre Ford EcoBoost petrol engine that delivers 125 PS, effectively offering an impressive performance coupled with outstanding CO2 emissions and fuel economy.
The new MPV range was also recognised by Carbuzz.co.uk. The five-seat C-MAX clinched the top rank, while Grand C-MAX and S-MAX came in fourth and fifth, respectively.
