Ford Motors stylish Fiesta is Europes official top-selling model in March and for the first quarter of 2010, the latest figures gathered by JATO Dynamics have revealed.
According to JATO Dynamics, the worlds leading automotive data provider, 68,630 units of the Ford Fiesta were sold for March 2010, a 25.8% jump compared to the same period last year. It is also around 11,800 units higher than its closest rival, Volkswagens compact car Golf.
In the first three months of 2010, the Fiesta has also inched past, selling 140,496 units to the Golfs less than 135,000 units.
JATO Dynamics said that the sales of the Fiesta simply outpaced the Golfs, particularly during March where it posted strong sales in Italy (+87%) and the UK (+14.7%) where 57% (11,251) of all Fiestas sold were LPG-powered.
Last year was a great year for the Fiesta despite the economic conditions, but this year has been even stronger so far! March sales of the Fiesta were the highest weve ever recorded for any Ford model in a single month in Europe, said Ingvar Sviggum, Vice President for Marketing, Sales and Service at Ford of Europe.
Since the new Ford Fiesta first hit the market 18 months ago, more than 750,000 units have been purchased around the globe.
This would be an outstanding achievement any time, but even more so given the unprecedented economic situation, Sviggum added. And with the launch now underway in North America, I believe the Fiesta will continue to go from strength-to-strength.
In its press release JATO Dynamics also named Ford Motors as the best-selling brand in Europe in March.
