The new Ford S-MAX is celebrating a twin success ahead of its release this week.
The influential 2010 Fleet News Awards awarded the cars Easy Fuel System as the 2010 Best Technical Innovation, while the car itself was voted Best MPV.
The sporty and stylish new Ford S-MAX snatched the award because of its simplistic design, uniquely fresh looks, and driver-friendly features, underlining the Easy Fuel filler nozzle system which is proven to be effective in preventing drivers from incorrectly filling a diesel-engine vehicle with petrol.
It eliminates a problem which can cost thousands of pounds each time a car is misfuelled, the events judges commented. Simple but highly effective, and with 300,000 units installed it is having a significant impact on fleet drivers.
The S-MAX out-powered five other Multi Purpose Vehicle competitors on the events shortlist because of its good design, practicality, high quality, flexibility and driver appeal. The judges added: this car will appeal to both finance and HR-led fleets - allowing their employees to choose a people carrier without feeling like they are driving a big car.
Fleet director at Ford Britain Kevin Griffin said: The most stylish MPV is just about to get even better when new S-MAX arrives from next month. Im delighted Fleet News recognised the impact of both S-MAX and Ford Easy Fuel, now fitted across our range.
The new Ford S-MAX is gearing up to hit the UK showrooms in April with a starting price of 20,645 pounds.
