Daihatsu believes that it can offer great alternatives for motorists looking to downsize their vehicles.
Motorists looking to downsize their car in the current economic conditions have been told that a "fun-packed range of vehicles" are available at Daihatsu. In a time when the large luxury car market is in major decline, Daihatsu states that its vehicles are a popular choice.
Reasons for this, according to the manufacturer, are that they offer excellent fuel economy, low emissions, proven reliability and great value for money.
Paul Tunnicliffe, managing director at Daihatsu vehicle distributors, said: "Global environmental issues, social changes, and shifts in consumer values are all combining to put compact cars in the spotlight.
"Big is not better anymore. Rather, small is smart. Our cars are friendly to the environment as well as being people friendly. As a company we are practical, innovative and imaginative and we aim to become the world's leading compact car maker."
Among the vehicles in the Daihatsu fleet which are towards the head of the market in terms of fuel efficiency are the 1.0-litre Sirion and the 1.5-litre Materia.
Television show Top Gear stated that the Daihatsu Sirion is "a car that the Japanese no longer need to be ashamed of".
