Honda rewarded with top safety rating in latest Euro NCAP crash test results.

The Honda Accord has proved its pedigree in the large family car class by being given the sector's best combined safety rating in the latest Euro NCAP crash test results.

Among the innovative safety features fitted as standard on the new Accord, which may appeal to used car buyers, include active head restraints, dual stage front airbags and front seatbelt pre-tensioners and load limiters.

These features helped the vehicle receive the first-ever three star pedestrian rating in the large family class, alongside five star adult protection and four star child protection.

Ken Keir, managing director at Honda (UK), said: "We are delighted with the Euro NCAP result, which confirms the new Accord as the leader for combined adult, child and pedestrian safety in the large family car class.

"With this rating, and the advanced active safety features of the Accord, our customers can experience the most effective technologies put into practice, with our goal of providing safety for everyone."

The eighth generation Honda Accord that has been on sale in Europe since the middle of this year has been given a more sporty look, by becoming longer, wider and including sharper lines.
