Honda UK has released initial photos of a hybrid version of the much-loved Jazz, with complete details to be announced at its world debut at the 2010 Paris Motor Show this October.
The introduction of petrol-electric IMA system to the Jazz makes it the first B-segment hybrid in the world.
Though the car is said to come with improved fuel economy figures and reduced CO2 emissions, the official emissions and MPG data will be released at the car's public debut.
With the flexibility and practicality of the current Jazz, the hybrid version will feature the same engine fitted to the Insight hybrid - a 1.3 i-VTEC unit combined with a CVT transmission, with an electric motor installed between the two to produce a parallel hybrid system. Like the Civic Hybrid and the Insight models, the hybrid Jazz will be capable of operating on the electric motor alone under some low and medium speed conditions.
Visually, the eco-friendly Jazz boasts revised headlights with a blue surround, a chrome tailgate garnish, new front grille, clear rear lights and restyled bumpers. It will also be available in a variety of existing colours plus a custom-made Lime Green metallic.
The car's cabin also gets a fresher look, with darker single-colour dashboard, which strongly contrasts with the blue lighting of the dashboard instruments and dials. In addition, it will be available with leather trim, the very first time this feature has been introduced on Jazz in Europe.
Going on sale in the UK in early 2011, the new hybrid Jazz will be displayed in Paris along with the 2011 model of Insight, Accord, Accord Tourer, CR-Z, Jazz and CR-V, as well as a stylish PCX scooter equipped with low emission idle-stop 125cc engine and the sports touring motorcycle VFR1200F with the V4 engine.
