Hoon launches third gen Toyota Avensis

Secretary of State for Transport Geoff Hoon launched the new Toyota Avensis on Friday.
Over 300 Toyota employees were on hand as the Secretary of State for Transport officially launched the start of production of the new Avensis model on Friday.Geoff Hoon paid a visit to Toyota's Burnaston Plant in Derbyshire last week in a trip that marked the launch of the company's flagship model.
Ahead of the trip, Mr Hoon stated that the development of the new Toyota Avensis was "a real vote of confidence" for both the staff at the plant and for car manufacturing in the UK in general.
Katsunori Kojima, managing director of Toyota Manufacturing UK, added: "In challenging economic conditions, the new generation Avensis offers customers advanced fuel saving technologies, reduced emissions, as well as enhanced levels of safety.
"This truly reflects our commitment to delivering the right cars, for the right place, at the right time."
The Toyota Avensis is a large family car that first appeared on the market in 1998, with the new vehicle set to be the third generation of the popular model.
