Hyundai has revealed a new range of eco-friendly Blue Drive cars as a result of the leading-edge programme of the company.
The Hyundai ix35 blue, i30 blue, i20 blue and i10 blue are eco-focused vehicles that incorporate improvements on emissions but do not affect reliability, driver satisfaction or performance, making them ideal for modern motorists.
All models have the latest powertrain technology with high energy efficiency. The new 1.7-litre U2 diesel and 1.0-litre Kappa petrol engines are combined with low-friction and high-performance engine oil to reduce driveline friction.
One noticeable modification on the drivers part is the Hyundai Idle Stop & Go (ISG) system, which stops the engine when the vehicle is not moving and restarts it by pressing the clutch pedal.
Also, the Hyundai Blue Drive range has improved lower rolling resistance and aerodynamics to minimise drag.
Panels under the vehicles have been placed to smooth airflow. Wheels also have low rolling resistance tyres that are inflated to a higher pressure.
With these innovations, engineers have been successful in lowering emission levels of CO2 of the Hyundai i30, Hyundai i20 and Hyundai i10 blue to below 100g/km range.
The Hyundai i10 blue model, which will be in production by the end of this year, has a new and efficient Kappa petrol engine with a maximum capacity of 1 litre that produces 69PS at 6.200 rpm and gives 94 Nm of torque.
The Hyundai i20 blue and Hyundai i30 blue models, both to start production in 2011, have U2 1.4-litre and U2 1.6-litre diesel engine that emit only 99 g/km of CO2.
The Hyundai ix35 blue, which also starts production at the end of this year, boasts an impressive CO2 emissions of only 135g/km, making it a rival of C-segment hatchbacks and C-segment SUV models.
