Jaguar XF offers more than the standard diesel
09 April 2009
A reviewer has remarked that an engine upgrade in the Jaguar XF has improved power and fuel efficiency.
The Jaguar XF is a vehicle that behaves in a way that is uncommon to vehicles fitted with a diesel engine, it has been stated.Writing for the Telegraph, Paul Bailey indicated that an engine change has seen the vehicle not only come equipped with more power but also become more fuel efficient.
The previous XF was given a 2.7-litre engine, which offered a top speed of 149 miles per hour while allowing a driver to complete 27.1 miles per gallon of fuel.
However, an upgrade to a new 3.0-litre engine, alongside the development of sequential turbocharging, allows the vehicle to serve up a maximum speed of 155 miles per hour.
Also, economy has risen to 30 miles per gallon, although Mr Bailey revealed that he got 34.7 miles to the gallon from a carefully driven long journey.
He added that when a driver puts their foot down "the nose lifts, the traction control lamp flickers and the car heads for the hills. Diesel cars aren't supposed to behave like this while giving 30mpg-plus economy."
Mr Bailey concluded by saying that the car "deserves to succeed".
The Jaguar XF recently scooped the accolade for the 'Best Executive Car' at the 2009 What Diesel Car of the Year awards.
