James Bond's 1964 movie car, the Aston Martin DB5, which is also deemed as one of world's iconic cars, will be auctioned by RM Auctions at its annual 'Automobiles of London' event on 27th October at the Battersea Evolution in London. The 20th century cultural icon is expected to earn $5 million.

"Well-known around the world by its original UK registration number, FMP 7B, this Aston Martin is one of only two, and the sole remaining, original '007' DB5s as featured on screen, with Sean Connery behind the wheel, in the enormously popular Goldfinger and Thunberball movies", stated the press release.

Originally, the DB5 was lent to EON Productions for the shooting of the two James Bond films, and brought back to the Aston Martin Lagonda plant after its promotional tours. In 1969, Jerry Lee, a well-known radio presenter based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, convinced the plant to sell the DB5 to him for £8,172, becoming the first and only ex-factory owner of the car. It remained in his possession and rarely seen in public during the past 40 years.

Lee plans to use the proceeds to offer additional support to the Jerry Lee Foundation, an organisation dedicated to solve social issues associated with poverty and promote crime prevention.

Today, the car is presented in pristine condition and has just undergone a thorough re-commissioning programme by RM Auto Restoration, retuning it to running conditions after years of static display in Lee's home.

In advance of its auction debut, it is due to make a public appearance at the Bond-themed Midsummer Classic and Thunderball reception scheduled on 26 June at the Stoke Park Club situated outside of London.
