Kia raises money for Red Nose Day
11 March 2009
Kia dealers have sold 15 pimped-up vehicles to raise money for Red Nose Day.
Kia got into the Red Nose Day spirit by raising over £7,000 for charity through selling pimped-up used cars. Some 15 vehicles from Kia dealers from across the UK were "tweaked, tuned and pimped" and offered for sale at the British Car Auction (BCA) Measham Centre.
All the vehicles sold for a combined cost of £7,400, with the most expensive selling for £1,700.
Paul Philpott, managing director of Kia Motors (UK) Limited, commented: "I'm really proud of all those who took part.
"Red Nose Day is all about a positive change through the power of entertainment and our Kia dealers very much embraced this mission with the pimped part-ex event."
BCA general manager of corporate sales Craig Purvey added that there was a "great atmosphere" in the auction hall when the bidding was taking place.
Motor trade magazine AM recently crowned Kia the 2009 car maker of the year, with BBC presenter Huw Edwards on hand to present the award.
