Koenigsegg, as part of its celebration of 15 years of producing special speedsters, will unveil its latest Agera supercar at the Geneva motor show this week. The new Agera presents several styling tweaks reminiscent of the CCX. The car derives its name from the Swedish translation of to act, symbolising the companys philosophy of consistently enhancing its cars and pushing the envelope in its designs. The designers have attempted to incorporate a few differences through the slightly tweaked rear and front bumpers. However, the Ageras carbon-Kevlar body, aluminium honeycomb reinforced carbon fibre chassis and detachable top that can be stored in the bonnet, are all similar to the outgoing CCX.
The notable improvements in the car include an all-new carbon fibre centre console and tunnel assemblage and a new form of ambient lighting dubbed as Ghost Lights where the light glows through the Ageras billet aluminium switches and emerges by means of invisible nanotubes.
The Koenigsegg Agera supercar features a 4.7-litre double turbocharged V8 generating 910 PS (or 669 kW/898 hp) at 6850 rpm and 1100 Nm (or 811 lb-ft) at 5100 rpm. In combination with a sequential gearbox and a dry weight of only 2,832 lbs, the Agera can get up to 100 km per hour in as fast as 3.1 seconds, 200 km per hour in 8.9 seconds, and can reach a top speed of 245+ mph.
Presently, the company has yet to reveal the price tag of the Agera supercar, but it is believed that Koenigsegg will present a pre-production model of the car at the Swiss Motor Show. GTSpirit said that only 16-20 units of Agera will be manufactured every year, which will start later this year.
